Courage to Stand Firm, Grace to Begin Again

Sunlight filtering through a tall tree at dawn, symbolizing renewal and courage.

Some days call for courage; others call for humility. Today’s Scriptures hold both together, showing how God honors integrity and welcomes every heart that turns toward Him.

The Word
Eleazar chooses faithfulness over compromise, offering a noble witness that inspires generations. In the Gospel, Zacchaeus eagerly seeks Jesus, receives Him with joy, and responds with generous repentance.

Reflection
Eleazar’s steadfastness invites us to consider where we may feel pressured to soften our convictions or hide our faith. His quiet strength shows that fidelity often speaks louder than words. God sees such endurance and upholds those who choose integrity.

Zacchaeus shows another beautiful truth: no matter our past, Jesus comes close and invites us into new life. His response is immediate, joyful, and practical—he restores what he has harmed and shares with the poor. True encounter with Christ always bears fruit.

These two stories together teach us that faith is both holding firm and starting fresh. God honors our perseverance and delights in our repentance. Wherever we find ourselves today, His grace meets us.

Call to Action
Choose one small act of integrity or generosity today that reflects your desire to follow Christ wholeheartedly.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, give me the courage of Eleazar to stand firm in faith and the openness of Zacchaeus to welcome You with joy. Strengthen my heart to choose what is true, and renew me where I need Your mercy. Lead me today in integrity, generosity, and love. Amen.
