Faithfulness That Endures in Every Season

Life often asks more of us than we expect. Some days call for courage, others for quiet faithfulness. Today’s readings show how God strengthens His people to remain true, even when the path is difficult or unclear.

The Word

2 Maccabees reveals a mother and her sons who trust that God is the giver and restorer of life. In the Gospel, Jesus tells a parable urging His followers to use the gifts He entrusts to them with purpose and courage.

Reflection

Courage and faithfulness are woven together in today’s Scriptures. The mother in Maccabees points her sons beyond fear to the Creator who holds all life. Her hope rests not in earthly outcomes but in God’s promise to restore and redeem. Her steadfastness invites us to consider where we draw our own courage.

Jesus’ parable echoes this theme. Each servant receives something valuable and is invited to act with trust, not hesitation. The one who hides his gift reflects a mindset guided by fear. Jesus calls us to a different posture—one that recognizes God as generous, trustworthy, and eager to multiply our offering.

We may not face dramatic trials, but we are asked daily to invest our time, our compassion, our faith, and our gifts with confidence. God never wastes what we place in His hands.

Offer one gift or responsibility to God today—your time, your kindness, or your skill—and use it with renewed trust.

Prayer
Lord, fill my heart with unwavering trust in You for all things. Empower me to embrace the gifts You have graciously bestowed upon me with joy and love. Help me remain faithful in the little moments and resilient in challenges. May my life flourish with fruit that glorifies You. Amen.
