We all face moments when following God feels costly. Today’s readings speak into these places, showing both the struggle and the hope that come with choosing faithfulness.
The Word
Mattathias refuses to abandon God’s covenant even when others yield to pressure. The psalm proclaims that God reveals His saving power to the upright. Jesus weeps over Jerusalem because it fails to recognize the peace God offers.
Reflection
Faithfulness often requires courage. Mattathias stands firm when compromise seems easier, reminding us that loyalty to God is not shaped by popular opinion but by a steadfast heart. His example points to a life grounded in conviction rather than convenience.
Jesus’ tears over Jerusalem reveal God’s longing for His people to choose the way that leads to true peace. When we ignore His invitations or harden our hearts, we miss the gentle guidance that can protect and restore us. But when we remain open, God rescues, strengthens, and guides.
Today, God again invites us to listen—to recognize His presence and choose the path that honors Him, even when it is hard.
