Today’s readings call us to choose faithfulness over fear. When hearts drift from God, anxiety and false security follow. But Jesus gently invites us to seek the Kingdom first and trust the Father who knows every need.
Life can pull our hearts in many directions. Today’s readings remind us that peace begins when we return our trust to the Lord.
The Word
In Chronicles, King Joash turns from God after listening to voices that lead him astray. Psalm 89 proclaims that God remains faithful, even when His people fail. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that we cannot serve both God and wealth, and He calls us to trust the Father’s care.
Reflection
Joash’s story is a warning about divided loyalty. He began with the guidance of a faithful priest, but later allowed other voices to shape his choices. When we forget God’s goodness, we can begin to lean on approval, comfort, money, or control.
Jesus offers a better way. He does not deny that we have real needs. He simply reminds us that worry cannot carry us, but the Father can. The birds and flowers become signs of God’s tender attention.
To seek first the Kingdom is to place God at the center before fear takes over. It means choosing prayer before panic, obedience before convenience, and trust before tomorrow’s troubles.
Call to Action
Name one worry before God today, then take one faithful step without letting fear lead.
Prayer
Lord, help me seek Your Kingdom first today.
Free my heart from worry and false security.
Teach me to trust Your faithful care in every need.
Amen.
