Reflection
Peter describes faith as something meant to grow. Grace is not only received; it is cultivated through goodness, knowledge, self-control, endurance, devotion, mutual affection, and love. Faithful living becomes a daily offering of the life God has entrusted to us.
In the Gospel, the tenants forget that the vineyard is not theirs. Their violence begins with a deeper spiritual disorder: they receive a gift, then try to possess it apart from the giver. That warning is gentle but clear for us. Our time, work, family, abilities, and opportunities are all entrusted to us by God.
Today’s readings invite us to ask whether we are managing God’s gifts with gratitude or clinging to them as though they belong only to us. Stewardship begins when we return the first place in our hearts to the Lord.
