Today’s readings emphasize listening to God’s voice and returning to Him with sincerity while trusting in Jesus through life’s storms. The prophetic message from Amos calls for repentance, and the Gospel illustrates Jesus calming the sea, demonstrating His authority over chaos. Through prayer, we can share our fears and seek His peace.
Some days feel like a warning trumpet. Other days feel like a storm at sea. Today’s readings invite us to wake up, turn back to God, and trust the One who speaks with authority and mercy.
The Word:
Through Amos, God calls His people to recognize their need for repentance and return. The psalmist asks to be led in the Lord’s justice. In the Gospel, Jesus calms the wind and sea, revealing His power over fear and chaos.
Reflection:
Amos reminds us that God’s voice is not background noise. When the Lord speaks, He calls His people to attention. His warnings are not meant to crush us, but to bring us home before our hearts drift too far.
The disciples discover this same truth in the boat. The storm is real. The danger feels urgent. Yet Jesus is with them. Before He calms the sea, He speaks to their fear and invites them into deeper faith.
We may not be able to stop every storm around us, but we can turn toward Christ within it. His presence does not always remove the struggle immediately, but it gives us the courage to trust that the waves do not have the final word.
Call to Action:
Bring one fear to Jesus in prayer today, and ask Him to replace it with trust.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, lead me in Your justice and mercy.
When I am afraid, help me turn to You first.
Calm the storms within me, and strengthen my faith.
