Faith is not meant to stay inside sacred spaces. Today’s readings call us to let worship become visible in how we seek good, love justice, and welcome the healing presence of Christ.
Through Amos, the Lord calls His people away from empty religious gestures and toward lives marked by goodness and justice. The psalm reminds us that God desires obedience from the heart, not outward devotion without love. In the Gospel, Jesus enters a place of fear and bondage, bringing freedom where evil had taken hold.
Reflection:
The message of Amos is direct but merciful: seek good and turn from evil. God is not rejecting worship itself. He is calling His people to worship with integrity, where prayer and praise are joined to justice, mercy, and daily faithfulness.
This is a gentle invitation for us, too. Our songs, prayers, and routines matter, but they must flow into the way we treat others. True devotion shows up in honesty, compassion, forgiveness, and concern for those who are overlooked.
In the Gospel, Jesus brings freedom to men whom others feared and avoided. Yet the town asks Him to leave. Sometimes Christ’s healing disrupts what is familiar. Today, we can ask for the grace to welcome Him fully, even when His mercy changes our priorities.

Choose one act of justice or mercy today: speak kindly, forgive someone, help a neighbor, or defend what is good with quiet courage.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, purify my heart and make my worship sincere.
Teach me to seek good, love justice, and welcome Your freeing grace.
Help my faith become visible in mercy, truth, and love.
