Reflection
Paul tells Timothy to stir into flame the gift of God. Faith can grow dim when fear, discouragement, or routine settle over the heart. Yet the gift remains. God does not give a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love, and self-control.
In the Gospel, Jesus corrects a narrow view of God’s power. The Sadducees speak as though death has the final word, but Jesus points them back to the living God. Our hope rests not in human imagination, but in the God who holds life beyond what we can see.
This memorial of courageous witnesses reminds us that faith is not merely admired; it is rekindled. The flame may begin with a simple act: praying again, speaking truth gently, choosing courage, or trusting God where fear has been loud.
