The Ascension reminds us that Jesus’ departure was not an ending, but the beginning of a greater mission. Christ returned to the Father, yet He did not leave His people alone. His presence continues through the Holy Spirit, bringing strength, comfort, and hope to every believer.
The Word
In today’s readings, the disciples watch Jesus ascend into heaven after blessing them and commissioning them to share the Gospel. Though they may have felt uncertain at first, they are reminded that Christ reigns with power and glory.
Saint Paul prays that believers may have hearts enlightened to understand the hope of God’s calling and the greatness of His power. In the Gospel, Jesus sends His followers into the world and promises to remain with them always.
Reflection
The Ascension calls us to lift our eyes beyond temporary struggles and remember where our true hope is found. Jesus reigns in glory, yet He still walks closely with His people each day.
The disciples could have remained frozen in fear after watching Jesus ascend. Instead, they moved forward with faith and purpose. They trusted His promises even before they fully understood what was ahead.
That same invitation is given to us. We may not always see the full picture of what God is doing, but we are still called to trust Him faithfully. Christ continues to guide His people through the quiet work of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes life feels heavy with uncertainty, disappointment, or waiting. The Ascension reminds us that heaven is not distant from our daily lives. Jesus intercedes for us, strengthens us, and calls us to live with confidence and peace.
Wherever you are today, remember that Christ has not abandoned you. He reigns in glory and remains near to every heart that seeks Him.
