Some days feel clear and light-filled. Other days ask us to keep trusting God without seeing the whole path. Today’s readings meet us there with calm strength. The Lord guides, the Lord is good, and the Lord keeps His people steady as they walk with Him.
The Word
In Acts 16:1-10, Paul continues the mission with Timothy and is led by the Holy Spirit in a way he did not expect, until a vision calls them toward Macedonia. Psalm 100 answers with joy, reminding us that the Lord is God, that we are His people, and that His kindness endures forever. In John 15:18-21, Jesus prepares His disciples for resistance and reminds them that they belong to Him.
Reflection
One of the most comforting truths in today’s first reading is that God leads His people even when the way forward is not obvious. Paul and his companions tried one direction, then another, yet the Spirit redirected them. That can happen to us, too. A closed door is not always a defeat. Sometimes it is the mercy of God guiding us toward a better place of service, timing, or obedience.
The psalm gives us the posture for that kind of journey: joy, trust, and worship. We belong to the Lord. We are not drifting through life alone. We are His people, cared for by His faithful hand. When we remember that, praise becomes more than a song. It becomes a steady way of living, even before we understand everything.
In the Gospel, Jesus speaks honestly. Following Him will not always be easy. There may be misunderstanding, rejection, or pressure to blend in with what does not honor Him. Yet His words are not meant to frighten us. They are meant to strengthen us. He tells the truth so our hearts can remain anchored. We do not belong to passing opinions or shifting values. We belong to Christ.
That means we can live with quiet courage. We do not have to be harsh, defensive, or afraid. We can be faithful, gentle, and rooted. When the road is uncertain, the Spirit still leads. When the world feels unsettled, the Lord is still good. When discipleship costs something, Jesus still holds us close.
Today, stay near the Lord. Trust His direction, even if it comes one step at a time. Praise Him for His enduring goodness. And when faith feels costly, remember that the One who called you will also sustain you.
