Today’s readings call us away from divided hearts and back to the living God. Elijah’s witness, the psalmist’s trust, and Jesus’ fulfillment of the law remind us that true peace begins when we choose the Lord with our whole heart.
Every day presents small choices about where we place our trust. Today’s readings invite us to stop wavering and turn again to the God who is faithful, near, and true.
The Word
Elijah calls Israel to choose the Lord and repairs the broken altar. The psalm proclaims God as refuge, portion, and path to life. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that He has come not to abolish the law and prophets, but to fulfill them.

Reflection
On Mount Carmel, Elijah stands before a divided people. Their silence reveals a struggle many hearts still know: wanting God, yet clinging to other sources of security.
Before fire falls, Elijah repairs the altar. That is a tender image for us. God often begins renewal by rebuilding what has been neglected: prayer, trust, obedience, gratitude, and daily surrender.
Jesus shows us that faith is not a rejection of God’s ways but their fulfillment in love. To follow Him is to let our lives be shaped by truth, even in small things. The Lord is not asking for a divided heart. He is inviting us into wholehearted peace.
Call to Action
Today, name one place where your heart feels divided, and ask God to help you choose Him there with trust.
Prayer
Lord God, draw my heart back to You.
Repair what has grown weak within me.
Teach me Your truth, guide my steps,
and help me choose You with faith and love. Amen.
