There are days when the heart feels unsettled, and the path ahead seems unclear. Today’s readings speak gently into that place. God brings peace where there has been confusion, and Jesus draws us near with words of love, friendship, and purpose.
The Word
In Acts 15:22–31, the Church sends a message to encourage believers and to lift unnecessary burdens from them, and the people rejoice at the encouragement they receive. Psalm 57 answers with praise, declaring God’s mercy and faithfulness among the nations. In John 15:12–17, Jesus tells His disciples to love one another as He has loved them, calls them friends, and appoints them to go and bear fruit that will remain.
Reflection
One beautiful thread runs through today’s readings: the heart of God is not to crush people with confusion, but to guide them into peace and faithful living. In Acts, believers had been troubled, yet the message sent by the Church brought clarity, unity, and encouragement. That is still the Lord’s way. He is not the author of chaos in our souls. He is the giver of peace.
The Gospel makes that peace personal. Jesus does not keep His followers at a distance. He calls them friends. That word carries tenderness, closeness, and trust. We are not forgotten servants trying to guess our Master’s mood. In Christ, we are loved, chosen, and invited into His life and purpose.
Jesus also gives a clear command: love one another as He has loved us. This kind of love is not shallow or convenient. It is patient, sacrificial, and steady. It chooses kindness over pride, mercy over offense, and faithfulness over self-protection. It reflects the love of Christ, who always moves toward people with truth and grace.
Then Jesus adds a hopeful calling: bear fruit that will remain. Not every effort lasts. Not every pursuit matters forever. But the fruit that grows from abiding in Christ does remain. A faithful prayer, a quiet act of service, a forgiving heart, a word of encouragement, a life rooted in obedience—these things are never wasted in the hands of God. They become part of His lasting work.
Today is a good day to receive this truth with fresh hope: you are chosen by Jesus, loved by Jesus, and sent by Jesus. Walk in His love. Offer love to someone else. Trust that the fruit He grows in your life will endure.
