Born From Above to Live With Bold Faith

Today’s readings remind us that God does not leave us timid or unchanged. Through the Holy Spirit, He renews our hearts, strengthens our witness, and teaches us to live with quiet courage and deeper trust.

There are days when faith feels steady, and there are days when questions, pressure, or uncertainty make us draw back. Today’s readings meet us in that place and remind us that God still breathes fresh life into His people.

The Word
In Acts, the early believers pray not for ease, but for courage, and the Holy Spirit fills them with boldness. In the Gospel, Jesus tells Nicodemus that no one can enter the Kingdom without being born from above, born of water and Spirit. Together, these readings point to the transforming work of God: He renews us inwardly and sends us forward faithfully.

Reflection
Nicodemus comes to Jesus with sincere questions. That is comforting, because many believers carry questions too. Jesus does not shame him. Instead, He invites him deeper. The life of faith is not only about understanding more. It is about becoming new through the Spirit of God.

The first reading shows what that new life looks like in practice. The disciples face resistance, yet they do not retreat. They gather, they pray, and they ask for boldness. God answers by filling them again. This is a needed reminder: courage is not something we manufacture on our own. It is a gift God gives to hearts that stay near Him.

Today, ask the Lord where He wants to renew you. Perhaps you need fresh faith, greater peace, or the strength to speak kindly and truthfully in a difficult place. The Spirit still moves, still strengthens, and still leads God’s people into a life that reflects Christ.

Call to Action
Take five quiet minutes today to ask the Holy Spirit to renew one area of your life and give you courage for one faithful step.

Prayer
Lord Jesus,
thank You for calling me into new life by Your Spirit.
When I feel uncertain or afraid, fill me with courage and peace.
Renew my heart, strengthen my faith, and help me walk in obedience today.
Let my words and actions reflect Your grace.
Amen.
