He Is Risen: Hope Awakens in the Light of Easter

Sunrise shining over the open tomb on Easter morning

Some mornings begin in darkness, with questions, grief, or uncertainty. Easter meets us there. At the empty tomb, God reveals that sorrow is not the end of the story. In the resurrection of Jesus, hope rises again.

The Word
Today’s readings proclaim the heart of our faith: Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised by God on the third day. Peter witnesses to the living Christ, the psalm rejoices in the Lord’s saving power, and Paul calls believers to live as people made new. In the Gospel, Mary Magdalene, Peter, and the beloved disciple encounter the empty tomb, and belief begins to dawn.

Reflection
Easter is not only a remembrance of what God has done. It is an invitation to live differently because of what is now true. Jesus is alive. The stone has been removed. What seemed defeated has been raised in glory.

The resurrection tells us that God brings life where we expect loss, peace where we carry fear, and mercy where we remember our sin. Because Christ lives, forgiveness is real, hope is secure, and no darkness is beyond His reach.

Paul urges us to seek what is above and to clear out the old leaven. That means Easter should shape the way we live today. We are called to leave behind bitterness, fear, and spiritual passivity, and to walk forward with sincerity, truth, and quiet confidence in Christ. The risen Lord not only comforts us; He renews us.

Call to Action
Begin this Easter day by naming one place in your life that needs resurrection hope, and surrender it to the risen Jesus in faith.

Prayer
Risen Lord Jesus,
thank You for the victory of Your resurrection
and the hope You bring to every weary heart.
Lift my eyes to what is eternal,
fill me with Your peace,
and help me walk today in sincerity, joy, and faith.
Let Your new life shine through me
so that others may see Your love and give You praise.
Amen.
