Even when the world misunderstands suffering or service, God sees the truth. The souls of the just rest in His hand, and His faithful servants find purpose in humble obedience.
Reflections for Today
Reading Reflection – Wisdom 2:23–3:9
God created humanity for immortality — to share in His divine nature. Death entered the world not by God’s design, but through the envy of the evil one. Yet, even amid suffering, the faithful are secure in the hand of God. What seems like loss or defeat to the world is, in truth, the path to peace and eternal glory.
The souls of the just are like gold tested in fire — refined, not destroyed. God’s faithful ones shine with His presence and reign with Him forever. This passage reminds us that God’s care extends beyond the grave; His mercy and grace accompany His chosen, even through trials.
Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 34
“I will bless the Lord at all times.”
This psalm invites us to live in continual gratitude. The Lord listens to the cries of the just, comforts the brokenhearted, and saves those crushed in spirit. His nearness in suffering transforms pain into praise.
Let us keep God’s praise ever on our lips, even when the way is difficult.
Gospel Reflection – Luke 17:7–10
Jesus’ words challenge our sense of entitlement and remind us of humility in service. The faithful servant does not expect reward or recognition for doing what is right — obedience itself is the offering.
True discipleship means serving God with a heart of gratitude, not seeking applause but desiring only to please Him. When we have done our duty, our response should echo Christ’s teaching: “We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.”
This is not self-deprecation, but holy humility — the posture of one who serves out of love, not pride.
Reflection for Today:
In a world that measures worth by recognition and success, today’s readings invite us to a different measure: faithfulness. Whether our service is seen or unseen, whether our suffering is understood or not, God sees. He refines, rewards, and restores His faithful ones.
Let us live today as joyful servants — steadfast, grateful, and confident in God’s care.
Prayer:
Lord, You formed us in Your image and called us to eternal life.
Refine our hearts like gold in the fire of Your love.
Teach us to serve humbly, without seeking reward,
trusting that our peace and purpose are found in You alone.
Amen.
