God plants His Word in our hearts, promising new life. Today’s readings invite us to become good soil—receiving His truth with trust, holding onto hope, and patiently allowing faith to bear lasting fruit through perseverance.
Growth in faith often happens quietly. Like a seed hidden beneath the soil, God’s Word can be working within us long before we see the fruit. Today’s readings encourage us to trust that hidden work and remain faithful.

In 1 Corinthians 15:35–37, 42–49, Paul uses the image of a seed to explain the mystery of resurrection. What is sown in weakness and mortality will be raised in glory and power. He points our hope beyond our present limitations toward the new life God promises in Christ.
Psalm 56 expresses confident trust in God’s presence and care. The psalmist remembers that God rescues, sustains, and enables His people to walk in the light of life.
In Luke 8:4–15, Jesus tells the parable of the sower. The seed is the Word of God, but its fruitfulness depends on how it is received. Jesus describes the good soil as those who receive the Word with a generous heart and remain faithful until it bears fruit through perseverance.
Reflection
A seed can look small and unimpressive, yet it carries life within it. Paul reminds us that God can bring something glorious from what appears weak, buried, or finished. The resurrection gives us reason to hope even when we cannot yet see what God is doing.
Jesus asks us to consider the condition of our hearts. God’s Word may reach us, but worries, distractions, temptation, and the pursuit of comfort can crowd it out. Good soil is not a perfect life. It is a heart willing to listen, receive, and keep returning to God.
Fruit also takes time. We may pray faithfully and still wait. We may try to grow in patience, forgiveness, generosity, or trust and feel that our progress is slow. Jesus reminds us that perseverance matters. Faithfulness today prepares the soil for fruit tomorrow.
Our task is not to force spiritual growth. It is to remain close to God, welcome His Word, and give it room to shape our choices. What God plants in a receptive heart can become a harvest of grace far greater than we imagined.
Prayer
Lord, make my heart good soil for Your Word. Give me patience to trust Your work, courage to remain faithful, and grace to bear fruit in the way I live. Keep my hope firmly rooted in the new life You promise in Christ. Amen.
