God calls us to live the Gospel with purpose, humility, and a heart open to correction. Today’s readings invite us to train our hearts for what lasts, seek strength in God, and examine ourselves with grace before judging others’ faults.
Faith is not meant to drift without direction. God invites us to live with purpose—growing in discipline, humility, and love as we follow Christ each day.
The Word
In 1 Corinthians 9:16–19, 22b–27, Paul describes preaching the Gospel as a sacred responsibility. He willingly gives of himself for the sake of others and compares the Christian life to an athlete who trains with discipline for a lasting prize.
Psalm 84 expresses a deep longing for God’s presence and reminds us that true strength comes from Him.
In Luke 6:39–42, Jesus warns against trying to correct others while ignoring our own faults. He calls His disciples to clear vision—humility that first allows God to work in our own hearts.
Reflection
Paul’s words remind us that following Christ requires intention. We do not have to accomplish something dramatic every day, but we are called to keep moving faithfully toward God. Prayer, patience, generosity, self-control, and service are all ways we train our hearts to remain focused on what truly matters.
Jesus also shows us that spiritual discipline must be joined with humility. It is easy to notice another person’s shortcomings while overlooking the places where we ourselves need healing and growth. Before correcting someone else, we can ask God to help us see our own hearts clearly.
This kind of honest self-examination is not meant to discourage us. It makes room for grace. When we let Christ teach us, correct us, and strengthen us, we become better able to love others with patience rather than judgment.
The invitation today is simple: run toward Christ with purpose, and let His grace clear your vision along the way.
Prayer
Lord, give me the discipline to follow You faithfully and the humility to see my own heart clearly. Help me grow in grace so that my words and actions lead others toward Your love. Keep my heart focused on what lasts forever. Amen.
