God desires to dwell among His people, and Jesus shows us the kind of heart that welcomes His presence: humble, sincere, and ready to serve. Today’s readings invite us to seek less recognition for ourselves and make more room for God’s glory to shape the way we live.
It is easy to measure a good day by what we accomplished, how we were noticed, or whether things went our way. Scripture offers a different measure: Is God being given room to dwell in us, and are we willing to serve without needing recognition?
The Word
In Ezekiel 43:1–7, the prophet sees the glory of God entering the temple and filling it. The vision is one of restoration and divine presence. God declares that this is the place where He will dwell among His people.
Psalm 85 celebrates that same hope. God brings peace, salvation, kindness, truth, justice, and blessing. His presence is not distant; it changes the land and the lives of those who receive Him.
In Matthew 23:1–12, Jesus warns against outward religion that seeks attention while failing to practice what it teaches. He turns His disciples toward humility and service, teaching that greatness in God’s kingdom is found not in being honored, but in becoming a servant.
Reflection
Ezekiel’s vision gives us a beautiful picture of what God desires: to dwell among His people. His glory fills the temple, bringing the assurance that He has not abandoned them. We can carry that image into our own prayer today. God still desires to be welcomed into the ordinary places of our lives—our homes, decisions, relationships, work, worries, and hopes.
Jesus shows us what can make room for that presence. Humility clears away the need to impress others. It allows us to stop asking, “How do I look?” and begin asking, “How can I serve?” True faith does not need a spotlight. It becomes visible through patience, compassion, honesty, generosity, and the quiet willingness to help carry another person’s burden.
On this memorial honoring Mary as Queen, we can remember that Christian greatness is never separated from humble obedience to God. Mary’s life points away from self-importance and toward faithful trust. Today: make room for God’s glory by choosing humble service. When we place God first and serve others with love, even small actions can become places where His peace is made visible.
Prayer
Lord God, fill my heart with Your presence and teach me to walk humbly before You. Free me from the desire for recognition, and give me the grace to serve others with sincere love. May my life make room for Your peace, truth, and glory. Amen.
