Today’s readings remind us to bring our fears before the Lord with honest trust. Hezekiah spreads his trouble before God, and Jesus calls us to walk the narrow road of love, wisdom, and life.
Some burdens feel too heavy to carry alone. Today’s readings show us where to bring them: into the presence of the Lord, who listens, shields, and guides His people.
The Word
Hezekiah receives a threatening message and brings it directly to the temple, praying before the Lord. God answers through Isaiah, promising protection and deliverance. The psalm praises God as the stronghold of His city. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches reverence for what is holy, the Golden Rule, and the narrow gate that leads to life.
Reflection
Hezekiah does not pretend the threat is small. He reads the letter, understands the danger, and then lays it before God. This is a beautiful image of faithful prayer. We do not have to hide our fear from the Lord. We can spread it before Him and ask for help.
God’s answer reminds us that He is not distant. He hears the cries of His people and acts according to His mercy and purpose. Even when the road ahead feels uncertain, the Lord remains our stronghold.
Jesus then calls us to choose the narrow gate. That narrow way is not always easy, but it is the path of trust, mercy, humility, and love. Today, we are invited to bring our worries to God and then walk forward in the way of life.
Call to Action
Today, name one worry before God in prayer, then take one faithful step in love toward someone else.
Prayer
Lord God,
When fear rises in my heart, teach me to bring it to You.
Help me trust Your protection, follow Your light,
and choose the narrow road that leads to life.
Amen.
