Title: New Life Found in Christ Through Welcome and the Cross Today
Today’s readings invite us to receive Christ with open hearts, live in the new life given through baptism, and practice faithful love in simple ways. Even a cup of cold water offered in His name matters to God.
God often meets us through simple acts of welcome, quiet faithfulness, and daily sacrifice.
The Word:
Elisha is received with generous hospitality, and God blesses the woman of Shunem. Paul reminds us that baptism joins us to Christ’s death and resurrection. In the Gospel, Jesus calls His disciples to love Him above all and to receive others in His name.
Reflection:
The woman of Shunem did not perform a grand act. She made room. She noticed God’s servant, welcomed him, and offered what she could. Her kindness became a place where blessings entered.
Paul reminds us that we are not meant to live as we once did. In Christ, we are raised to newness of life. That new life is seen in love that is generous, faithful, and willing to put God first.
Jesus shows us that discipleship is not only found in great sacrifices. It is also found in small mercies: a welcome, a meal, a room, a cup of cold water. Nothing given in love is overlooked by God.

Offer one simple act of welcome or mercy today in Christ’s name.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me make room for You today. Teach me to welcome others with kindness, carry my cross with faith, and live the new life You have given me. Amen.
