From Rejection to Redemption in God’s Plan

Golden sunrise over desert dunes with distant stone structure symbolizing hope and redemption.

Rejection wounds deeply. Whether in family, work, or community, being misunderstood or cast aside can leave lasting pain. Yet today’s readings remind us that God’s plans are never stopped by human jealousy or fear.

The Word
Joseph is betrayed by his own brothers and sold for silver. What looks like defeat becomes part of God’s saving design. Psalm 105 urges us to remember the marvels the Lord has done—how He was guiding Joseph even in chains.

In the Gospel, Jesus tells of tenants who reject and kill the landowner’s son. The rejected stone becomes the cornerstone. Though cast out, the Son fulfills the Father’s plan of salvation.

Reflection
Joseph’s story and Jesus’ parable echo one another. Both are rejected. Both are handed over. Yet neither story ends in ruin. God is writing a larger story than anyone can see in the moment.

When we face unfair treatment or hidden suffering, it can feel like the end. But the Lord works quietly through trials. What others intend for harm, He can shape into blessing. The cross itself proves this truth.

Today, we are invited to trust God’s timing. Instead of allowing bitterness to take root, we can choose faith. The cornerstone still stands. God’s promises remain steady.

Call to Action
Bring one hurt or disappointment to the Lord today and ask Him to redeem it for His greater purpose.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

When I feel rejected or misunderstood, remind me that You are still at work.
When others act out of jealousy or fear, guard my heart from bitterness.

Lord, You turned Joseph’s suffering into salvation,
and You made the rejected stone the cornerstone.
Take the wounds I carry and redeem them for Your glory.

Help me trust Your timing,
walk in forgiveness,
and remain faithful in every season.

I place my life in Your hands today.
Amen.
