There are moments when God is speaking clearly, yet our hearts feel slow to respond. Today’s readings gently but firmly remind us that the real issue is often not whether God has spoken, but whether we are willing to listen.
The Word
In Jeremiah, the Lord laments that His people have heard His commands but refused to obey. They turned away instead of walking in His ways. Psalm 95 echoes the warning: “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” In the Gospel, Jesus reveals the power of God at work, yet some still refuse to believe. Even in the face of mercy and freedom, they resist what is right in front of them.
Reflection
A hardened heart usually does not form all at once. It can grow slowly through pride, distraction, stubbornness, or the habit of delaying obedience. We may hear God’s invitation, yet keep putting off the change He is asking of us. Lent brings that truth into the light, not to shame us, but to call us back.
Jesus shows that the Kingdom of God is already at work. He is stronger than every force that binds, confuses, or divides. When Christ speaks, He brings freedom, clarity, and healing. The question is whether we will stand with Him fully or remain hesitant at a distance.
Today is a good day to ask: Where is God asking for my yes? It may be in prayer, forgiveness, honesty, repentance, or a simple act of love. A soft heart is not a perfect heart. It is a willing heart—one that hears, returns, and follows.

Take five quiet minutes today and ask the Lord, “What are You asking me to hear and obey right now?” Then respond with one concrete step.
Prayer
Lord, soften my heart so I may hear Your voice today. Forgive the times I have resisted Your will or delayed my response. Help me to return to You with my whole heart, to trust Your guidance, and to walk in Your ways with faith and love. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
