The Word

Reflection
Elisha receives Elijah’s mantle after a journey of faithful persistence. He does not turn back when the path becomes solemn and uncertain. He keeps walking with his eyes fixed on the gift only God can give.
Jesus teaches that prayer, fasting, and almsgiving must be offered before the Father, not performed for attention. Hidden devotion protects the soul from becoming dependent on praise. What is unseen by others is fully seen by God.
Today’s readings call us to faithful depth. The life of prayer is not built by appearances, but by quiet surrender. When we seek God in secret, he forms within us a strength that can carry us through public and private trials alike.
