There are moments when grief, confusion, or regret can leave us standing still, unsure what to do next. Today’s readings remind us that the risen Christ meets us in that very place and leads us forward with mercy, purpose, and hope.
The Word
In Acts, Peter speaks boldly to the crowd, calling them to repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus. Hearts are moved, lives are changed, and many are gathered into new life through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In the Gospel, Mary Magdalene weeps outside the tomb until Jesus calls her by name. In that tender moment, sorrow turns to recognition, and recognition becomes witness: “I have seen the Lord.”
Reflection
These readings show two powerful movements of grace. First, God reaches the heart. The people listening to Peter are cut to the heart, and Mary’s heart is awakened when Jesus speaks her name. Real faith is not only about hearing truth. It is about letting that truth enter deeply enough to change us.
Second, grace always leads to response. The crowd asks, “What are we to do?” Mary goes and announces the good news. Easter faith is never passive. The risen Christ calls us to turn back to him, to receive his mercy, and to carry hope into the lives of others.
Today is a good day to listen for the voice of Jesus in the middle of whatever you are carrying. He still calls his people personally, lovingly, and clearly. He still brings peace where there has been sorrow. He still sends those who have seen his goodness to share it with the world.

Risen Lord Jesus,
you meet us in our sorrow and call us by name.
Turn our hearts back to you with repentance, trust, and joy.
