There are seasons when life feels fragmented—our hearts pulled in many directions, our peace unsettled, and our hope tested. Today’s readings speak gently into that experience with a promise: God does not leave His people scattered. He gathers, restores, and remains with them.
The Word
In Ezekiel, God promises to bring His people back, make them one, cleanse them, and establish with them a covenant of peace. He speaks as a faithful Shepherd who guards His flock and dwells among His people. In the Gospel, even as opposition against Jesus grows, God’s deeper purpose is unfolding: through Christ, the scattered children of God will be gathered into one.
Reflection
One of the clearest themes in today’s readings is restoration. God sees division, exile, grief, and wandering—not to condemn His people, but to call them home. His desire is not confusion but peace. His heart is not distant but near. He promises to cleanse, gather, and remain.
The Gospel shows that even human fear and resistance cannot stop God’s saving plan. What others meant for control and destruction, God was already turning toward redemption. Jesus would give Himself not only for one people, but to gather all who are far off. That means our scattered thoughts, strained relationships, and hidden burdens are not beyond His reach.
As Lent draws us closer to Holy Week, this is an invitation to let Christ gather us again. Bring Him the divided places in your heart. Let Him form in you a new spirit, steady your trust, and teach you how to live in His peace. The Shepherd still guards His flock. He still leads His people home.
Call to Action
Bring one area of inner division to Jesus today and ask Him to replace it with His peace.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
gather the scattered places in my heart
and lead me in Your peace.
Cleanse me, renew my spirit,
and help me trust Your saving love.
Keep me close to You, my Shepherd,
and make my life a witness to Your hope.
Amen.
