There are seasons when life feels uncertain, and we wonder whether God is still working through delays, losses, or unanswered prayers. Today’s readings remind us that God does not forget His promises. He is faithful across generations, and His word remains steady even when circumstances feel fragile.
The Word
In Genesis, God renews His covenant with Abraham and gives him a new name, marking a new identity and future rooted in divine promise. The psalm echoes this truth: the Lord remembers His covenant forever. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks with authority about life that does not end and reveals His eternal identity. The same God who called Abraham now speaks through Christ with power, truth, and life.
Reflection
God’s covenant with Abraham shows that the Lord is both personal and faithful. He calls, names, blesses, and remains present. Abraham’s story began not with certainty, but with surrender. He prostrated himself before God, receiving a promise larger than he could fully see. That same posture of trust is still asked of us today.
In the Gospel, Jesus brings the promise of God even closer. He is not merely speaking about truth; He is the eternal Word. His call to keep His word is a call to live in communion with Him. When we listen to Christ and follow Him, we begin to live from eternal realities even in the middle of ordinary days.
Lent invites us to soften our hearts. Where have we become resistant, distracted, or slow to trust? God remains faithful. He still speaks. He still calls us by grace into deeper obedience, deeper identity, and deeper peace.
Call to Action
Take five quiet minutes today to surrender one fear or uncertainty to God, and ask for grace to trust His word more fully.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
You are the God who remembers Your promises and never fails.
Teach me to trust in Your word, even when I cannot see the way ahead.
Lord Jesus, eternal Word,
soften my heart to hear Your voice and follow You faithfully.
Help me to walk in obedience and rest in Your truth each day.
Strengthen my faith, renew my hope,
and lead me deeper into Your covenant love.
