Every day brings choices—some small, some life-shaping. In the quiet of this Lenten season, Scripture gently but firmly reminds us that our decisions matter. We are invited to choose the path that leads to life.
The Word
In Deuteronomy 30:15–20, Moses presents a solemn invitation: choose life by loving the Lord, walking in His ways, and holding fast to Him. Obedience brings blessing and fruitfulness; turning away leads to loss.
Psalm 1 echoes this truth. The one who delights in the Lord’s law is like a tree planted by running water—steady, fruitful, and secure.
In Luke 9:22–25, Jesus reveals that choosing life means taking up the cross daily. True life is found not in gaining the world, but in giving ourselves fully to Him.
Reflection
Lent makes the choice clear. Life is not simply about survival or success. It is about loving God with a faithful heart. It is about daily surrender.
Jesus does not hide the cost. Following Him means self-denial. It means letting go of pride, comfort, and control. Yet in losing our lives for His sake, we discover deeper freedom and lasting joy.
The world promises life through accumulation. Christ promises life through surrender. One fades like chaff in the wind. The other stands firm like a tree beside living water.
Today, the Lord places the invitation before us again: choose life.

Identify one attachment or habit that pulls your heart away from God, and surrender it to Him today in trust.
Prayer
Lord God of life,
You set before me the path that leads to blessing and peace.
Give me the courage to choose You each day.
Teach me to deny myself,
to take up my cross with trust,
and to follow Your Son with a faithful heart.
Root me like a tree beside living water.
Help me hold fast to You,
for You alone are my life.
Amen.
