The Word
In the first reading, David’s unfaithfulness unfolds step by step—from neglect of duty to deception and violence. Psalm 51 gives voice to repentance, reminding us that God desires truth in the heart and offers mercy to the contrite. In the Gospel, Jesus describes God’s Kingdom as seed quietly growing and a mustard seed becoming a place of shelter.
Reflection
David’s story shows how sin often grows when left unexamined. What begins with a glance becomes a chain of decisions that harms many. Scripture does not hide this truth. Yet it also refuses to leave us without hope. Psalm 51 reminds us that God’s mercy is greater than our failure when we turn back with humility.
Jesus’ parables offer another lens. God’s Kingdom grows even when we do not fully understand how. Grace works patiently beneath the surface. Repentance, though it may feel small or late, can still open space for new life.
