Some days confront us with hard truth. Other days feel like sudden storms. Today’s Word reminds us that God meets us in both—calling us to repentance and inviting us to trust Him more deeply.
The Word
In the first reading, David is gently but firmly confronted by the prophet Nathan. His sin is brought into the light, and David responds with humility and sorrow. Psalm 51 becomes the cry of a repentant heart, longing for renewal. In the Gospel, Jesus calms the raging sea and questions His disciples’ fear, revealing His divine authority and inviting them to faith.
This memorial also honors Saint John Bosco, who trusted God amid challenges and guided young people with patience, truth, and hope.
Reflection
David’s story shows us that God’s mercy does not ignore sin, but it does not abandon the sinner. Honest repentance opens the door to healing. A clean heart begins with humility—acknowledging where we have fallen short and trusting God to restore us.
The disciples’ fear in the storm mirrors our own. Even with Jesus near, anxiety can cloud our faith. Yet Christ’s presence is constant. He speaks peace not only to the sea, but to troubled hearts.
Saint John Bosco lived this trust daily. Serving vulnerable youth, he relied on God’s providence when resources were scarce and challenges were many. His life reminds us that faith grows when we act with courage, honesty, and love.

Prayer
Loving Father,
create a clean heart within us and renew a steadfast spirit in our lives.
When truth convicts us, give us humility to repent.
When storms rise around us, give us faith to trust Your Son.
Calm our fears, restore our joy,
and help us walk each day in Your mercy and peace.
We place our lives in Your hands, confident in Your love.
