Let the Light Be Seen and the Promise Trusted

In ordinary moments of prayer and daily choices, God is at work in ways far greater than we often realize. Today’s readings draw us into trust—trust in God’s promises and trust in the light He places within us.

The Word

David sits humbly before the Lord, amazed that God would choose him and his house. The psalm echoes God’s lasting covenant, while Jesus teaches that light is never meant to be hidden. What God gives is meant to be received, treasured, and shared.

Reflection

David’s prayer is not one of pride, but of wonder. He recognizes that everything he has comes from God’s generosity, not his own merit. This posture of humility opens his heart to trust God’s promises for the future, even those he will not fully see himself.

Jesus builds on this same truth. The light we receive—faith, understanding, grace—is not meant to be tucked away. When we listen carefully and live faithfully, God’s light grows brighter in us. What we nurture multiplies; what we neglect fades.

Today invites us to ask: Am I hiding the light God has placed in my life? Trusting God means both receiving His gifts and allowing them to shape how we live, speak, and love.

Call to Action

Today, choose one simple way to let God’s light show—through kindness, honesty, or a quiet act of faith—trusting that He will do the rest.

Prayer
Lord God, you are faithful in all your promises. Thank you for the light you place within our hearts. Give us humble trust like David and attentive hearts to hear your word. Help us live openly in your truth, that your light may shine through us today and always. Amen.
