Stir Into Flame the Gift You Have Received

A small glowing flame in a dark, quiet setting symbolizing faith and courage.

In every season, God raises up servants to guard the faith and proclaim His saving work. Today’s readings speak to anyone who has felt hesitant, misunderstood, or weary in doing what is right.

The Word

Paul encourages Timothy and Titus to lead with courage, fidelity, and trust in God’s promise. Faith is a gift to be stirred into flame, not hidden. Jesus, misunderstood and accused, reveals that God’s power brings healing and unity, not division or fear.

Reflection

Saints Timothy and Titus remind us that faith is often passed on quietly—through prayer, example, and perseverance. Timothy learned sincere faith from his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. What was planted in love was strengthened through courage and responsibility. God’s work often begins in small, faithful places.

Paul’s words challenge us to resist fear and shame. God does not give a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love, and self-control. When we hesitate to speak or act in faith, we are invited to trust that the Spirit is already at work within us.

In the Gospel, Jesus confronts false accusations with truth. His mission is clear: to bind what enslaves and restore what is broken. When we stand with Christ, even amid misunderstanding, we participate in His work of freedom and healing.

Call to Action

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to rekindle one gift God has given you and use it intentionally for the good of others.

Prayer

Loving Father,
we thank You for the gift of faith planted in our hearts.
Stir into flame the grace You have given us,
so that we may live with courage, love, and self-control.

Free us from fear and shame,
and strengthen us to bear witness to Your truth,
even when it is difficult or misunderstood.

May Your Holy Spirit guide our words and actions today,
so that our lives may proclaim Your marvelous deeds.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
