God has chosen us in Christ, sealed us with the Holy Spirit, and surrounded us with his attentive care. Because our lives are precious to him, we can reject fear, walk honestly, and place our hope in his faithful promises.
Fear can make us question our worth, hide our struggles, or worry about what tomorrow may bring. The readings assure us that our security does not depend on the world’s approval. We belong to God, and he knows us completely.
The Word

In Ephesians 1:11–14, Saint Paul explains that we have been chosen in Christ and sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the pledge of our inheritance and a sign that we belong to God.
Psalm 33 praises the Lord whose word is trustworthy and whose kindness fills the earth. In Luke 12:1–7, Jesus warns his disciples against hypocrisy and calls them to live truthfully. He then comforts them with the image of sparrows: even the smallest creature is noticed by God, and every person is of immeasurable value in his sight.
Reflection
Our identity begins with what God has done for us. We are not forgotten people trying to earn his attention. Through Christ, God has welcomed us into his family and given us the Holy Spirit. That truth remains steady even when our circumstances feel uncertain.
Jesus also calls us to live with integrity. Hypocrisy grows when we care more about appearances than the condition of our hearts. God already sees what is hidden, yet he still calls us toward healing, honesty, and freedom. We do not need to pretend before the One who knows us completely.
The sparrows offer a simple but powerful picture of God’s care. If these small creatures do not escape his notice, neither do our fears, disappointments, responsibilities, or quiet prayers. Nothing about our lives is too ordinary for his attention.
When fear rises, remember who you are: chosen in Christ, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and precious to the Father. Let that assurance give you the courage to live honestly and follow Jesus faithfully today.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for choosing me in Christ and holding my life in your loving care. Help me live honestly, trust your promises, and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Free me from fear so that my life may give praise to your glory. Amen.
Call to Action
When worry arises today, pause and pray: “Father, I belong to you, and I trust your care.” Then take one faithful step instead of allowing fear to direct your decisions.
