A Peace Born From God’s Justice and Gentle Revelation

Sunlight streaming through a quiet forest at dawn, symbolizing peace and renewal.

Advent draws our attention to God’s promise to make all things new. In a world longing for justice and peace, today’s readings remind us that God’s restoration begins with hearts open to His gentle leading.

The Word

Isaiah foretells a Spirit-filled ruler from the line of Jesse who brings justice, harmony, and the peace of God’s kingdom. The psalm echoes this hope: a king who rescues the poor and brings lasting peace. In the Gospel, Jesus rejoices that God reveals His truth not to the self-assured but to the childlike and trusting.

Reflection

Isaiah’s vision is breathtaking: enemies at peace, danger dissolved, and creation resting in harmony. This isn’t wishful thinking—it is the fruit of a just and righteous King whose wisdom and mercy reshape the world. Advent reminds us that Jesus embodies this promise and begins this restoration within us.

Jesus celebrates the humble heart. True understanding isn’t earned by intellect but received with openness. The childlike trust Jesus praises is not naïve—it is a readiness to believe that God is good, present, and working, even when we do not yet see the fullness of His peace.

As we await Christ’s coming, we can practice this posture of humility. When we let go of self-reliance and choose quiet trust, we make space for His justice and peace to take root.

Call to Action

Pause today and offer God one area of your life where you need His peace. Ask for the grace to receive His guidance with childlike trust.
