Life can feel unpredictable, and at times we face pressures that test our courage. Today’s readings reassure us that God remains steady even when earthly powers falter or when we face opposition for our faith.
The Word
Daniel confronts a king who has misused what belongs to God and ignored His sovereignty. Jesus tells His followers that difficulties—even persecution—will come, yet He promises to give them wisdom and protection. Perseverance becomes the path to true life.
Reflection
Belshazzar’s downfall shows what happens when a heart grows proud and forgets the One who holds every breath. Daniel stands firm, refusing rewards and speaking truth with calm confidence. His courage flows not from himself but from knowing God is in control.
Jesus prepares His disciples for hard moments too. Faithfulness does not spare us from trials, but it does anchor us. He promises, “I myself shall give you wisdom.” We are never left alone to face what overwhelms us. God equips us to witness to His goodness, even in adversity.
Perseverance is not stubborn grit—it is steady trust. It is choosing to remember who God is, even when circumstances shake. And Jesus assures us that such endurance leads to life.
