Today’s readings offer steady comfort. In Acts, the Gospel spreads beyond familiar borders, and many turn to the Lord. In the Psalm, the nations are drawn into praise. In John’s Gospel, Jesus speaks with deep assurance: His sheep hear His voice, He knows them, and no one can take them from His hand.
Acts 11:19–26 shows the Church expanding in Antioch as believers proclaim the Lord Jesus, Barnabas encourages the people to remain faithful, and Saul joins in teaching the growing community. It is also there that the disciples are first called Christians. Psalm 87 rejoices that God’s saving work reaches many peoples. In John 10:22–30, Jesus reveals the security of belonging to Him and declares His unity with the Father.
Reflection
There is peace in being known by Jesus. He does not care for us from a distance. He knows our fears, our weariness, our hopes, and our need for grace. The Lord’s words today are not rushed or uncertain. They are calm and strong. He reminds us that our lives are safest in His care.
Acts also gives us a needed picture of faithful encouragement. Barnabas saw the grace of God at work and urged the believers to remain firm of heart. That is a timely word for us. Faith is not only about beginning well. It is also about staying near to Christ, staying teachable, and staying open to what God is doing around us.
The readings also carry a quiet note of belonging. Psalm 87 celebrates the wideness of God’s welcome, and Acts shows the Church growing as new people come to believe. The Lord is still gathering people, still calling hearts, still building His people in grace. We can rest in His hand and also rejoice that His mercy reaches farther than we can see.
Call to Action
Spend a few quiet minutes with John 10:27–30 today. Ask the Lord to help you listen for His voice, trust His care, and remain faithful to Him with a firm heart.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for knowing me and holding me with perfect care. Help me hear Your voice above every fear and distraction. Keep my heart faithful, steady, and close to You. Strengthen Your Church, gather many to Yourself, and teach me to trust Your love today. Amen.
